Picked up one of these the other day. Lots of good, and some bad. Running windows 7, you get all the great features you expect from a full blown OS in a tablet. The virtual keyboard is better than the ipad. You can scale it to any size you want, and have the ability to move it around the screen to wherever you want. Fired up project 64 with fzerox to test it out. A little glitchy when there were a bunch of cars around, but it was playable. The screen is great with a regular 1366x768 resolution as opposed to whatever the ipad has. VLC works great and it is a snap to transfer media files to it. No need for itunes!
Web Browsing is good, however touch scrolling only works in IE so you really need to use IE. I connected a ps3 controller using Motion Joy and that works just great! I havent tried the hdmi out yet. Couldnt get the ps3 controller to sync over bluetooth, but I didnt really try that hard.
Skype works great with the built in web cam. Cant wait to try it running a hotspot on my android phone
The bad:
Battery life. The ipad gets charged like once a week. The slate was out of juice within 2 hours.
Sound: This has a fan. Who wants a fan running the entire time it is on. Ipad is much quieter
Apps: The fancy app store is not present, however with running windows 7 that isnt that much of a problem. Most emulators will work and its a snap to transfer files to it.
Is it good enough to replace the ipad?
Nope. Not with the battery life it currently has. Plus, every laptop I have had has had the fan fail and then it was pretty much worthless. When this fan fails it will be sent to the trash.
